AMY THOMPSON, TEACHER OF THE YEAR, 2008-09

Congratulations to Amy Thompson for being selected as the Teacher of the Year for 2008-09. Ms. Thompson is a first grade teacher at Jenkins-White. She has been a very important part of our school and is a conscientious, responsible, gifted educator.

CAN'T WAIT FOR 2008 TO BEGIN!

We look forward to greeting our students on Monday, August 11. But before that... Registration for new students is on Wednesday, August 6 and our Open House will be on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 6:00 PM. We look forward to a positive, productive year with our Jenkins-White family!

Daily Attendance is Important!!!

Jenkins-White has so much to offer its students EVERY DAY.  It is very important to us and to you to be here each time we have school.  In order for our school to make "Adequate Yearly Progress" , attendance is especially significant and is monitored by DFACS and Richmond County Board of Education.  To learn more, click here to see the county's attendance policy.

Greetings from Dr. Marva Tutt, Principal

Welcome to Jenkins-White Charter School!
Many times parents ask “What can I do to help my child?” Here are a few ideas I have gathered for you.
• Help develop your child’s social skills.
• Take time to set a good example and teach children social skills and acceptable behaviors.
• Take time to talk to your children.
• Be a role model, talk about your feelings. Encourage discussion and conversation about feelings. This may diffuse anger, sadness, and fear. You may reduce the number of tantrums or mood swings displayed by your children!
• Reward your children from their accomplishments and good behavior. Emphasize the positives.
• Curb the extracurricular activities.
• Avoid creating stress for children by over-involvement in activities. Children need personal time just like adults do!
I hope these ideas are useful for you!
Marva Tutt, Principal
